Spartobots is more than just building a robot!
Discover all the roles that make our team a success.
To support, encourage, and advance the robotics program and related activities of the Orono Robotics programs, to promote STEM education, and to promote FIRST Robotics.
Robotics is Back at Orono High School — and Building Momentum
After a seven-year hiatus, the robotics program has made a strong comeback at Orono High School—now entering its second consecutive year. The revitalized program is quickly gaining momentum, offering students hands-on experience in engineering, coding, and collaborative problem-solving.
Starting fresh was an exhilarating challenge! As a start-up team, the Spartobots were literally building from the ground up—developing an inventory of tools, gathering materials, and learning the processes to design and construct competitive robots.
Despite being a new and relatively young team, the Spartobots made an immediate impact—earning the Rising Star Award at the FIRST Robotics Competition. This award recognizes a new or re-emerging team that demonstrates outstanding potential, determination, and growth by embracing FIRST values, creating impact, and laying the foundation for a sustainable future.
To support this mission, the Spartobots Boosters were established in 2024 and have secured 501(c)(3) nonprofit status—making it easier for our community and supporters to contribute and help us grow.
Launching a competitive robotics team requires significant resources, including:
Tools for building and prototyping
Essential materials for robot construction
Team uniforms and competition registration fees
With your support, we can empower students to develop cutting-edge skills, tackle real-world challenges, and compete on a national stage.
Stay tuned for updates, fundraisers, and opportunities to join us in building the future of robotics at Orono High School!
Together, we can turn sparks of curiosity into engines of innovation.
